Low wildfire danger levels in the Peace region to start wildfire season

Both the Grande Prairie and Peace River forest areas have their wildfire danger levels at low to start the wildfire season.

However, the Peace River area does have an active blaze listed as under control 30 km east of Manning, sitting at 0.01 hectares in size.

At this time, residents are being reminded to apply for fire permits if they plan on having a fire this summer, and always remember the ‘soak stir-soak again’ method.

Alberta Wildfire is also asking anyone who conducted winter burning to re-visit those sites in the coming weeks to check for any hot spots.

Heading into the 2025 wildfire season, ten blazes are currently burning across the province, compared to 60 a year ago.
