Montreal’s Stacey and Tabin, Ottawa’s Hughes named PWHL’s three stars of the week

TORONTO — Montréal Victoire forward Laura Stacey, Ottawa Charge forward Gabbie Hughes and Victoire defender Kati Tabin have been named the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s three stars of the week.

Stacey had two goals and two assists to claim first-star honours as Montreal swept its two games last week.

She had a goal and an assist in a 3-1 win over Toronto on Feb. 25 and repeated that scoring line, including the game winner, in a 3-2 overtime victory over Boston on Saturday.

The Victoire increased their lead in the league standings to seven points over Toronto heading into a game Tuesday night against visiting Minnesota.

Hughes had two goals and an assist in Ottawa’s 5-4 overtime win over New York on Wednesday to earn second-star honours.

Tabin had a career-best two goals, and a season-high five shots on net in Montreal’s win over Boston at the Bell Centre.
