UPDATE: Grande Prairie RCMP respond to alleged weapon presence at Composite High School

Mar 4, 2025 | 3:38 PM

UPDATE:

Representatives from Composite Highschool are disputing the information provided by the Grande Prairie RCMP regarding an arrest made February 27, connected to an apparent complaint of a male on the school property.

Deputy Superintendent James Robinson says the individual was arrested in Muskoseepi Park, and was never on school property.

He says the RCMP did not advise the school of any police action in the area until the incident was over and the Grande prairie Public School Division was never informed of the incident.

Robinson adds that if the incident had occurred on school grounds, safety protocols would have been initiated, and parents informed.

Grande Prairie RCMP arrested a male last week after a weapon was brought to Composite High School.

On February 27, at approximately 12:10 p.m., the detachment received a complaint of a man with a handgun at the school and responded quickly.

Mounties were able to locate the man and determined the handgun was an imitation firearm or BB gun.
