Budget 2025

Province to boost school employment opportunities if Budget 2025 passes

Mar 12, 2025 | 12:27 PM

New investments from Alberta’s 2025 budget could mean employment expansions for Alberta Schools.

If passed, Budget 2025 would work to address enrolment pressure on schools brought on by population growth, with almost 89,000 students enrolling since 2020.

A $1.1-billion investment over three years would allow school authorities to hire more than 4,000 teachers, education assistants and support staff to ensure students receive the attention they need in school.

Additionally, a $55-million classroom complexity fund would allow the school to hire not only additional teachers and educational assistants, but counsellors, psychologists, and interpreters.

Minister of Education Demetrios Nicolaides says Alberta’s students deserve the best, and Budget 2025 would make sure they get it.
