Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership launches social media accounts

Mar 27, 2025 | 12:49 PM

The Grande Prairie Regional Emergency Partnership now has a direct source for residents to receive emergency updates.

GPREP has launched social media accounts on Facebook and X(previously Twitter), under the name @gprepalerts, to provide timely, accurate information during wildfires, floods and other large-scale emergencies.

Previously local municipalities were asked to share updates from GPREP Information Officers to their own social media accounts.

Grande Prairie Mayor Jackie Clayton says by having this tool easily accessible and available for the public, GPREP hopes to reach those impacted by emergencies with the information they need even faster.

County of Grande Prairie Reeve Bob Marshall says by launching these GPREP specific social channels, GPREP is providing trusted sources for updates when it matters most.

Residents are encouraged to follow the @gprepalerts accounts on Facebook and X to stay up to date on the latest emergency updates.
