Homicide in Carcajou under investigation

Mar 27, 2025 | 12:34 PM

Alberta’s Major Crimes Unit has taken over a murder investigation from Manning RCMP and is seeking information from the public.

After receiving a report about a deceased individual on March 16 at 2:25 p.m. Mounties located a vehicle on Range Road 224 in Carcajou, with a dead male inside.

They were identified as 38-year-old Paddle Prairie resident, Nathan Loonskin, with the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton deeming the death a homicide.

However, Mounties say this event was isolated and there is no ongoing risk to the public.

Anyone with information regarding Loonskin’s whereabouts leading up to his death, or dash cam footage of the stretch of Highway 35 between Paddle Prairie and Manning, from 8 p.m. on March 15 to 2 p.m. on March 16; is asked to contact the Manning detachment at 780-836-3007, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
