Apr 6, 2025 | 2:23 PM

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association says Saturday’s WPCA tarp auction for Stompede smashed previous records.

The tarps for 44 drivers sold for a total of $853,000. The old record was $514,650 in 2023, an auction that also included 44 tarps.

This year’s total also beat last year’s sale total of $496,750 for 40 drivers.

Vern Nolin had the top individual bid at $55,000, also a new record for highest individual sale. The lowest sale of $7000 is also $2000 higher than any previous low bid.

As for drivers with Peace Country connections, Chanse Vigen had the top bid at $30,000. Next came Dean Dreger at $24,000; Mitch Sutherland at $22,000; Cody Ridsdale at $20,500; Tuff Dreger at $20,000; Todd McCracken at $19,500 and Dayton Sutherland at $12,500.

The fill list of drivers, their tarp sale totals and their sponsors can be found on the WPCA website.

This year’s Stompede is set for May 28 to June 1 at Evergreen Park.
