GPPS Mobile Outreach Team conducting needle mitigation efforts
As the spring melt removes ice and snow around Grande Prairie, an increase in debris is occurring, highlighting the importance of ongoing needle mitigation efforts.
Grande Prairie Police Service’s Mobile Outreach team will be conducting regular sweeps throughout the city, focusing on high-traffic areas like parks, and the downtown core.
The Government of Alberta grant-funded Needle Mitigation Worker is part of the Mobile Outreach Team and works closely with local businesses and community members to ensure public spaces are kept safe and is available to respond to direct calls from residents.
The Needle Mitigation Worker is available Monday to Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., while the larger Outreach Team operates from 6:00 a.m. to midnight daily.
