GP RCMP CRU makes drug trafficking arrest following traffic stop

Grande Prairie RCMP have arrested a suspect for drug trafficking related charges.

On April 5, the Grande Prairie Crime Reduction Unit stopped a vehicle for expired registration, with further investigation revealing the suspect was involved in drug trafficking.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 215 grams of cocaine, 67 grams of crystal methamphetamine, and $1,800 cash.

Fifty-year-old Chad Michael Simonson of Grande Prairie has been charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000.

Simonson was brought before a Justice of the Peace and released on conditions to appear before the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie on Monday, April 28.
