Grande Prairie Doctor receives unprofessional conduct sanctions

Aug 12, 2025 | 2:21 PM

A Grande Prairie Doctor has received his sentencing after being found guilty of unprofessional conduct in 2023.

In 2022, Dr. Obaid Afridi was accused of three unprofessional conduct allegations; he was then found guilty of one of these allegations a year later by the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

The tribunal found that Dr. Afridi was not compliant with the college’s Standard of Practice on Patient record content from May 2019 to March 2020.

The CPSA tribunal reconvened at the start of 2024 and again in February of this year to decide on a punishment.

As a result, Dr. Afridi was reprimanded by the CPSA and required to pay a $6,000 fine, along with a portion of the investigation cost, which amounts to $5,000.
