County addressing water pooling & flooding

Mar 20, 2026 | 6:01 AM

Due to the current spring thaw, the County of Grande Prairie has received multiple reports of pooling water and localized flooding.

At this time, the County says crews are steaming and clearing culverts, starting in “areas with known pooling or flooding,” but will prioritize any areas where “water is actively affecting homes, buildings, property, or infrastructure,” according to Transportation and Utilities General Manager Ryan Konowalyk.

The County does note that residents may have to wait up to 24 hours after work is completed to see any results.

Residents are encouraged to report any “washed out or frozen culverts, and flooding or significant road damage,” to the County by calling 780-532-7393.

The County did thank everyone for their patience so far, while “crews work to address trouble spots.”

Residents should be prepared for water pooling and flooding to be an ongoing issue this spring, due to multiple record-breaking snowfalls this winter.
