The Grande Prairie Police Service has entered it’s final phase of the Grande Prairie police transition.
GPPS says they are two years ahead of schedule and have a date set for the force to assume all city jurisdiction policing duties by October 21, 2026.
At this time, the service has 70 sworn members, with up to 91 expected by the transition date. In all, GPPS is planning for a full force made up of 110 members.
City Mounties will be relocating to the new Clairmont RCMP detachment; which has already begun operating out of the hamlet.
