Strong winds knock out power across the Peace

Nov 7, 2026 | 9:49 AM

After last night’s winds (Friday, Nov.6), multiple power outages have been reported across the Peace.

Environment Canada warned that this was possible in its yellow wind warning.

Now, ATCO reports over 40 possible outages, with one in effect on the southwest side of Grande Prairie, affecting over 9,000 people.

ATCO does note that a crew has been assigned, but no restoration time has been determined.

Anyone wanting to stay up to date on the plethora of outages in the Peace and when power will be restored can check ATCO’s outages map.

Environment Canada does note that the wind warning has now been rescinded, after gusts of up to 91 km/h were recorded at 3 a.m.
