The RCMP has arrested an Edmonton man who is accused of making threats on social media against Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Canadian government.

The Mounties say they began their investigation after getting word about the alleged threats on February 5th and were able to trace the messages to a social media account in Edmonton.

The 41-year-old accused was arrested last Thursday and has been charged with one count of uttering threats.

Robert Dale Kerr has been released from custody but is banned from accessing any social media sites or coming within 500 metres of any place were Trudeau may be in attendance.
