Construction continues on new Canadian Tire double the size of current store

Construction continues at the new Canadian Tire store in Grande Prairie and when it’s finished it will be the largest single-level Canadian Tire in the country. 

The retail floor, warehouse and service garage will total 173,000 square feet, double the size of Grande Prairie’s current Canadian Tire store.

General Manager Ron Regnier says the expansion has been in the works for some time. Land for the building was purchased about four years ago and he feels Grande Prairie is ready to accommodate the new, much larger store.

“Corporately they’ve obviously done their research and feel that the time was right that the city could support a store that size.  So, it’s great, we’re excited about it.”

Regnier says Grande Prairie has a very young, dynamic population.
