Info session on caribou to be held in Grande Prairie
Alberta Environment and Parks will be making a stop in Grande Prairie to gather the peace region’s thoughts on the province’s action on caribou.
The Swan City will be the last stop on a list of places the province will make during phase two of the planning. A discussion will be held at the Grande Prairie Elks Lodge from 3 to 8 p.m. on March 8, 2018. Once the discussion is complete in all six places, the province will move into the third and final phase — Engagement on Range Specifics Details.
The province says Alberta’s Draft Provincial Woodland Caribou Range Plan will develop actions and strategies to meet provincial and federal caribou population and habitat objectives. They add that the social and economic impacts are being kept at top of mind.
The discussions will also be held in Whitecourt, Edmonton, Cold Lake, Fort McMurray, and High Level.
