Ratepayers in Sexsmith have voted against the use of taxpayers dollars to preserve the last grain elevator in that town.
The Sexsmith Historical Society is hoping to restore the building, by renovating the exterior first and eventually transforming the interior into a small museum with displays featuring local farmers.
The ballot in Sexsmith included a plebiscite on using tax dollars to restore the structure.
Voters rejected the notion by a 266-236 vote.
