Local talent selected in WHL Bantam Draft Thursday

The Western Hockey League looked to the future on Thursday with their annual Bantam Draft ahead of the WHL Final which is set to begin on Friday.

Three players from the Peace Region were selected during the draft.

Devin Aubin of Falher was selected in the 4th round, 75th overall by the Spokane Chiefs.

Aubin was a member of the Grande Peace Athletic Club Bantam AAA Storm this past season and competed for Team Northwest at the Alberta Cup this past week in Spruce Grove.

Hunter Brown of Fort St.John was picked in the 7th round, 138th overall by the Red Deer Rebels.

The Fort. St. John native earned 43 goals and 24 assists for 67 points with the Flyers last season.

Finally, Jayden Watson of Grande Prairie was selected in the 8th round, 162nd overall by the Saskatoon Blades.

Watson also played for the Grande Peace Athletic Club Bantam AAA Storm this past year and was a member of Team Northwest at the Alberta Cup.
