Toronto FC lands general allocation money in deal with Los Angeles FC
Toronto FC has shipped an international roster slot to Los Angeles FC in exchange for US$50,000 in general allocation money.
LAFC, which has lost Canadian midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye to season-ending ankle surgery, promptly announced the signing of veteran Brazilian defender Danilo Silva on a five-month loan from Brazilian side Internacional. It acquired the 31-year-old’s rights from the New York Red Bulls in exchange for a fourth-round selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.
Silva rejoins LAFC head coach Bob Bradley 13 years after making his pro debut with the MetroStars in 2005.
The trade may also set up a move for Toronto, which had two open international slots after the departure of midfielders Ager Aketxe and Mariano Mino. TFC has said it is in holding transfer talks — but will only pull the trigger if the fit is right.
