As consumers gear up for the holiday shopping season Alberta police are trying to raise awareness to thwart retail theft.
Their target is shoplifters who then sell what they steal.
Police say some thieves actually have shopping lists of goods that are in high demand.
RCMP say stolen products wind up overseas for resale or are sold online.
Investigators say retailers recover their lost profits and costs for increased security by raising prices for the average consumer.
