Glen Hoag returns as coach of Canadian men’s volleyball team
TORONTO — Glenn Hoag is returning as head coach of the Canadian men’s volleyball team.
Volleyball Canada said in a release Tuesday that Hoag will guide the senior men’s team through the Olympic period. The first qualifying tournament is in August 2019.
Hoag replaces Stephane Antiga, who stepped down as head coach in October citing family reasons. The Frenchman coached Canada to a bronze medal in the 2017 World League finals, a seventh-place finish in the 2018 tournament and a ninth-place finish at the world championship in September.
Volleyball Canada appointed Antiga as coach after Hoag stepped down following the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janiero. Canada was coming off a fifth-place finish in its first Olympic appearance in men’s volleyball since 1992.
