The Grande Prairie Storm were looking to sweep their weekend home games with Fort McMurray Sunday as they hosted their North division rivals for an afternoon affair Sunday.

Following a 4-1 win Saturday, the Storm were carrying all the momentum into Sunday and it showed early.

Grande Prairie would open the scoring in the 1st period as Zach Webb found the back of the net to give the home side a 1-0 lead.

The Storm would double the lead on the power play in the first minute of the middle stanza as Zachary Okabe scored his 14th of the season.

Jackson Wozniak extended the advantage to 3-0 midway through the period, and Midget AAA Storm call-up Edge Lambert registered his first AJHL point with an assist on Wozniak’s 3rd of the season.

However, then the tide would start to turn in favour of the visitors.

Jesse Burchart would get the Oil Barons on the board with five minutes to go in the 2nd, and just a minute later they would get back to within one on the man advantage.

It only took the MOB five minutes to even up the game in the third as Sean McClosky scored the equalizer.

The game seemed destined for overtime, but in the final minute of the 3rd Fort McMurray would complete the comeback thanks to leading scorer Reed Morrison who netted his 18th of the season and vaulted the Oil Barons to a 4-3 win.

With the loss, the Storm drop back into 5th in the AJHL’s North division and are 13-11-2 on the season.

Grande Prairie will be back on the ice Friday when they begin a southern road trip in Canmore.
