Mountaineers presumed dead in Banff National Park

Parks Canada says three professional mountaineers are presumed dead after an avalanche on Howse Peak in Banff National Park.

The climbers — one American and two Europeans — were reported overdue yesterday.

Parks Canada says there have been several avalanches in the area and that recovery efforts are on hold because of the continued risk of more slides.
