RCMP in FSJ send out warning about vigilante justice

Fort St. John RCMP have sent out a release about people taking the law into their own hands.

Police say someone had vandalized a vehicle at a home in Fort St. John because they thought a dog was not being cared for.

It turned out the owner had been MedEvaced two months ago and has been in the hospital ever since. Police say care of the dog was entrusted to others.

Police were informed of the incident after they took the dog to a shelter June 15 after getting reports the animal was malnourished.

The 16-year-old dog had to be put down.
