Edmonton police officer charged with sexual assault

EDMONTON – An Edmonton police officer is facing a charge of sexual assault.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says the alleged assault against a woman happened in January in Canmore, Alta.

The officer was off duty at the time.

ASIRT says it investigated a complaint and forwarded its findings to the provincial Crown’s office.

Const. Stephen Fossen is to appear in Canmore provincial court on Aug. 21.
