Jul 15, 2019 | 5:20 PM
The Calgary Tower remains closed to the public while an investigation continues into an elevator that got struck on Friday night.
Batallion Chief Alistair Robin says firefighters had to use a harness to rescue eight people after a cable snapped, and the elevator car stopped about 12 storeys up.
The Alberta Elevating Devices and Amusement Rides Safety Association confirms they are investigating.
The association’s records show the elevator was last inspected in July 2018, within the two-year requirement of provincial standards.
