Cyclist killed in collision near Calgary airport Friday

Calgary police are investigating a fatal collision involving a cyclist that occurred late Friday afternoon near the city’s airport.

They say a man in his 50’s was riding a bicycle and was in a crosswalk when he was struck by a delivery truck that was turning left.

The man had to be extricated from under the truck before being rushed to hospital where he later died.

Police say alcohol, drugs and excessive speed are not believed to be factors in the collision.
