In a bit of a surprise, new numbers from Statistics Canada show that British Columbia has trailed all other province’s when it comes to marijuana sales over the first nine months of legalization, tallying $19.5 million.
Brock University business professor Michael Armstrong notes that BC has long had the strongest black and grey markets for cannabis.
Vancouver and Victoria even granted licences to illegal shops before legalization.
Meanwhile, Alberta has sold the most, taking in $123.7 million, with both Ontario and Quebec close behind.
