STARS embarking on ambitious campaign to replace aging helicopters
STARS is looking to replace some of its helicopters with new ones. Two of the five needed in Alberta are already flying out of Calgary. Three more are needed in this province
The Grande Prairie base hosted an official announcement of the Fleet Renewal Campaign Thursday.
STARS President and CEO Andrea Robertson says the current fleet of BK 117s is close to 35 years old. The machines are not manufactured anymore and it is hard to get parts. The Airbus H145 has been picked as the replacement. They cost about $13-million each.
Robertson says that about 70 per cent of the money needed is already in place.
