Wet weather continues to interrupt harvest
The latest crop report from Alberta Agriculture says farmers in the Peace have been able to do some swathing over the past week, but not much combining because of continued wet conditions.
In the report dated September 17, the province says less than one per cent of the crop came off in the last week and that five per cent has been combined so far. The five year average for combining at this time of year is 25 per cent.
Alberta Agriculture adds 67 per cent of the crop in the Peace is still standing and 28 per cent has been swathed.
For canola, the province says very little has been combined but over half has been swathed.
