GPRC Sports teams swept on Saturday

After picking up their first wins of the season on Friday, both GPRC basketball teams were hoping to start winning streaks against King’s University on Saturday.

Unfortunately that did not happen.

Kelly Reid and Sophie Leslie both had 11 points as the women’s team fell 109-57. while Liam O’Hallahan had 22 points as the men dropped a 79-66 decision.

The news was not much better for the volleyball teams, who once again visited Concordia University.

The women held a two games to none lead but could not close it out, as Concordia came back to take the match in five games (22-25, 18-25, 25-23. 25-22, 15-13).

Megan Fowler had 16 points (15 kills, one block) to lead the GPRC attack, while Leah Friesen (8 kills, 2 blocks, 2 service aces) and Lana Matthews (9 kills, 2 blocks, one service ace) each added 12 points.

The men were swept in three straight (25-22, 27-25, 25-18) for the second straight night, as Ryan Schwindt lead the way with 6 points (5 kills, one service ace).
