Three teenagers in Scotland have been charged after shooting and bomb threats earlier this year against schools in five countries, including a number in Calgary and Edmonton.
Threats of either a bombing or an impending attack surfaced in February through an online calling app, with a caller who had a Scottish or English accent.
Nine schools and a bank in Edmonton as well as five schools in Calgary got calls, prompting security procedures until it was realized the calls were a hoax.
The calls affected more than 4,000 students in Edmonton and resulted in the deployment of 47 police vehicles.
