Over 100 Peace Region Athletes attending Alberta Winter Games in Airdrie
Over 100 athletes from Grande Prairie and dozens more from around the Peace Region will be participating at the Alberta Winter Games in Airdrie from February 14-17.
2,700 athletes, coaches and officials are expected to descend on Airdrie for the games. Athletes ranging in age from 11-17 will be representing their zones in 23 different sports.
Athletes from the Peace Region will be representing Zone 8, with hockey being the exception. There are eight different zones created throughout the province.
The opening ceremonies take place on Friday and will be held at Airdrie City Hall. They begin at 7:00 p.m.
