Last two days of Agri-Show cancelled

Mar 12, 2020 | 6:25 PM

The last two days of the Peace Country Classic Agri-Show have been cancelled.

They were to be held Friday and Saturday.

Evergreen Park General Manager Dan Gorman says this came about after a recommendation from provincial health officials that gatherings with more than 250 people not go ahead because of the coronavirus outbreak.

“We will also be shutting down the Farm Family Banquet and when I say shutting down, we will be hosting that Farm Family Banquet at another date and making it as wonderful as ever for that wonderful, well-deserving family, but just not at this time.”

The Farm Family Banquet was to be held Friday night. The Ray and Dunnigan families are this year’s County of Grande Prairie Farm Family of the Year.

Gorman adds people are “Incredibly supportive” of what he calls “this very difficult decision but necessary decision.”

“We respect what the Alberta government is trying to do and flatten the spread of this terrible virus and whatever we can do to help, we want to do that.”

Gorman adds Evergreen Park is grateful for that support.

There is no word at this time on another date and time for the Northern Classic Bull sale or if the Thunder in the Park II skijoring event set for Saturday evening will go ahead.
