Alberta Government also pitching in to help food banks
The Government of Alberta announced Friday that it is providing food banks and community organizations with $5 million to ensure all citizens have access to the necessities.
The money is in addition to $3 million announced on April 2 from Alberta Education towards nine not-for-profits to provide food assistance.
“As we navigate through this crisis we must work together to support Albertans in need,” says Rajan Sawhney, Minister of Community and Social Services. “We are focused on making food and shelter supports readily available and will continue to ensure our most vulnerable and at-risk people have secure access to food throughout this pandemic.”
