Bear Creek Outdoor Pool to re-open Thursday

Jun 29, 2020 | 5:58 PM

The Bear Creek Outdoor Pool will re-open Thursday.

City Council passed bylaw changes at Monday’s meeting that would allow a new fee structure and opening hours for as long as pandemic regulations are in place.

A release from the city says 45-minute rental slots for a maximum of 20 people would be available Monday through Thursday from 2:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Hour-long slots, also with a maximum of 20 people, would be open from 1:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday.

Staff would be screened daily, and users would be pre-screened as part of the booking process. A long list of other safety measures includes re-routed ways in and out and hand washing and sanitizing stations.

The new by-law also includes a drop-in fee of $5 for the Outdoor Pool, but that would only come into effect if COVID-19 restrictions are eased later.

This by-law also includes a $5 drop-in fee for the Eastlink Centre until regular operations resume. There would be a limit on how many people could use the aquatics area and fieldhouse at any one time.

The phased re-opening at the Eastlink Centre will start on Monday, July 6.
