Dr. Deena Hinshaw, the province chief medical officer of health, says with cases on the rise in Alberta, it serves as a reminder that people should continue to follow public health advice, like washing your hands regularly and practicing physical distancing.

Dr. Hinshaw adds that after four months of the pandemic, many may be tuning out her messages.

“It can seem like old news, and many are tired of hearing this information. As the Premier and I both mentioned yesterday, we are concerned about the recent rise in cases we are seeing.”

“This is a reminder that COVID-19 can spread quickly, and cases can rise rapidly if we don’t all do our part.”

There are now 55 people in hospital in Alberta, while 13 of those are in an ICU. There is only one person in the hospital in Northern Alberta.

Over the last 24 hours, there were 5,800 tests processed at the provincial lab. There have now been 545,902 tests processed in Alberta, while 38,232 people from the North Zone have been tested.
