City of Grande Prairie looking for artists to join in Heritage Day celebrations

The city is looking for ten local artists to showcase their talents during live art demonstrations at this year’s Heritage Day festival in Muskoseepi Park.

The celebration will be held on August 3 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Throughout the two-hour event, artists will be able to showoff their artistic ability, then have their art work displayed inside the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion.

Artists will be able to create work based on three different themes that were chosen by the community, this years themes include:

  • Grande Prairie through the ages
  • Historical buildings in the region
  • The meaning of Muskoseepi

Each artist that participates will be supplied with acrylic paint and a canvas. They will also receive a $100 remuneration.

Artists that are interested in signing up must email the city (programming@cityofgp.com) by Monday, July 27 with their theme selection and pictures of two original art pieces. All applicants that apply will be reviewed and selected by a panel.
