City looking for year-round food and beverage service provider at Ernie Radbourne Pavilion

Jul 24, 2020 | 1:01 PM

The City of Grande Prairie is looking for local entrepreneurs to provide food and beverage services year-round at the Ernie Radbourne Pavilion at Muskoseepi Park .

The City of Grande Prairie says that the facility has a 288-square foot kitchen being leased at $1,500 per month on a one-year lease. The lease will include utilities and common area costs.

Rebecca Leigh with the City of Grande Prairie says this is a great way for entrepreneurs to get a start in the food industry.

“We’re open to innovative and unique ideas. Really, we are looking for an entrepreneur that will come in and provide a service to patrons of the park and the facility.”

Leigh adds that they would like to see someone set-up in the facility by September or October.

“We are looking for proposals from entrepreneurs that are ready to go within the next few months. It’ll give them an opportunity in the fall to get their feet under them, test out the concept and then hopefully get up and running.”

Those interested in applying can submit their applications until August 10.

Because of the fluctuating amount of foot traffic that passes through the park throughout the different seasons, the city is asking applicants to consider innovative business models to maximize their revenue.

Applicants applying to lease the facility will be scored in three different areas:

  • Experience with operating food and beverage outlet/kiosks and catering experience with meetings, birthday parties and events
  • Operations (business model canvas, proposed hours of operation and additional revenue opportunities)
  • Respondent’s proposed menu (grab and go, a la carte, catering)

A scoring of the applications will take place by a committee on August 14, from there applicants will be shortlisted and contacted on August 17.

Applicants on the shortlist will then have to participate in presentations and interviews on Friday, August 21.

Those interested in submitting an application can do so at the city’s website.
