113 new COVID 19 cases, five more deaths confirmed in Alberta

Five COVID-19 related deaths, along with 113 new cases, were confirmed in Alberta on Thursday, July 30.

There are now 1,408 active cases in the province, while 9,113 people have recovered.

Of the new cases, one was identified in the City of Grande Prairie, where there are now nine active and 24 recovered cases. One more individual in the County of Grande Prairie has recovered from the novel coronavirus, where the current numbers are now six active cases and 15 recoveries.

New cases were also identified in the M.D. of Greenview and Mackenzie County. Meanwhile, Birch Hills County, Clear Hills County, and the County of Northern Lights all saw some cases recover.

Updated cases totals among Peace Region municipalities as of the end of day July 28 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 33 cases (Nine active, 24 recovered)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 21 cases (Six active, 15 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: Six cases (Five active, two recovered)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (One active, two recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: Two cases (Both active)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 73 cases (One active, 62 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 47 cases (42 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: Five cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: Seven cases (One active, six recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: One case (Recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 24 cases (Four active, 20 recovered)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Four cases (All recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: Five cases (One active, four recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 145 cases (64 active, 80 recovered, one death)

Along with the announcement of new cases, five more deaths related to COVID-19 were confirmed on Thursday, bringing the provincial death toll up to 195.

There are now 91 Albertans in the hospital, 18 of whom are in intensive care. In the North Zone, there are 11 people in the hospital, two of whom are in an ICU.

The new cases come as the Province processed 8,670 COVID-19 tests on Thursday. To date, 676,913 tests have been done in Alberta.
