COVID-19 Update: Positive case count changes in some Peace Region municipalities

Some Peace Region municipalities received some good news when it comes to their active COVID-19 case counts on Wednesday, as the Province of Alberta added 171 new cases of COVID-19 for Tuesday, September 15.

Clear Hills County has seen its total number of active cases drop by six to 15.

All 16 of the people who contracted COVID-19 in the MD of Fairview have now recovered. There had still been one active case as of Tuesday’s update.

One new case has been found in the City of Grande Prairie, but two more people have recovered. That leaves the city with 11 active cases.

One more person has recovered in the County of Grande Prairie, leaving it with four actives.

The numbers for the Peace Country through September 15 are as follows:

  • City of Grande Prairie: 97 cases (11 actives, 84 recovered, two deaths)
  • County of Grande Prairie: 49 cases (four actives, 45 recovered)
  • M.D. of Greenview: 13 cases (one active, 11 recovered, one death)
  • Birch Hills County: Three cases (All recovered)
  • M.D. of Spirit River: 11 cases (two actives, nine recovered)
  • M.D. of Smoky River: 74 cases (zero actives, 64 recovered, ten deaths)
  • Big Lakes County: 48 cases (zero actives, 43 recovered, five deaths)
  • M.D. of Lesser Slave River: 12 cases (two actives, 10 recovered)
  • M.D. of Peace: 24 cases (six actives, 18 recovered)
  • M.D. of Fairview: 16 cases (zero actives, 16 recovered)
  • Clear Hills County: 86 cases (15 actives, 70 recovered, one death)
  • Northern Sunrise County: Nine cases (3 actives, 6 recovered)
  • County of Northern Lights: 51 cases (30 actives, 21 recovered)
  • Saddle Hills County: One case (One active, 0 recovered)
  • Mackenzie County: 384 cases (60 actives, 312 recovered, 12 deaths)

There are now 1,495 active cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, an increase of four from Tuesday’s update. The province says 14,379 people have now recovered from the disease.

Another 12,540 tests were completed on Tuesday.

Deaths as a result of COVID-19 remained at 254.

There are 38 people in the hospital with COVID-19 across Alberta, six of them in an intensive care unit. There are four people in the hospital in the North Zone with COVID-19. None of them are in an ICU.
