Tidewater Midstream donates $5,000 to Wembley following break-ins

The Town of Wembley was given a nice surprise Wednesday, as Tidewater Midstream and Infrastructure donated $5,000 to assist the Town in improving some of its security systems at their facilities.

On February 4 and 5, the Town of Wembley was hit with break-ins at their Fire Hall and Public Works facility. Various valuable items were stolen as a result of the break-ins.

When Tidewater learned of the break-ins, they reached out to Wembley to see if they could help in any way. At the time, the town kindly said thank-you but says they had all of their equipment back up and running and felt that they would be ok moving forward.

A couple of days later, Tidewater emailed again and said they were interested in donating $5,000 to help the town make sure something like this doesn’t happen again.

Noreen Zhang, the CAO for the Town of Wembley says this donation came as a complete shock.

“It was something unexpected for us. It certainly will assist with the cost of having to beefing up our security or get some of the other things covered that happened in our Public Works yard.”

The money being spent will help mainly beef up the security system at the Public Works Yard, which had been hit the hardest following the two break-ins. A ring of keys which contained keys to equipment and vehicles was stolen.

“Right now, we’re looking at adding some reinforced doors and adding security cameras that would increase the coverage that we would have,” explained Zhang.

She says the damage to the Fire Hall was less, which is why most of the money will be going towards the Public Works yard.

Zhang tells EverythingGP they’re grateful for the support they’ve received.

“For them (Tidewater) to reach out, it’s amazing. It shows very great community support and they’re a good neighbour to us, just like all of the other companies in our community as well.
