Local MLAs part of UCP caucus group calling new restrictions the wrong decision

Apr 7, 2021 | 2:43 PM

Two Peace Region MLAs are among 15 members of the United Conservative caucus that have signed a letter calling the government’s decision to go back to Step 1 of the re-opening plan “the wrong decision.”

The group includes Grande Prairie MLA Tracy Allard and Central Peace-Notley MLA Todd Loewen.

The letter says the politicians have heard from constituents that they want the elected officials to defend “their livelihoods and freedoms as Albertans.”

They say they have brought these concerns to the government, but the province’s approach has stayed the same.

The letter also says the group will continue to push for what it calls “a transparent path forward.”

The complete letter and all signatories can be found below.

Grande Prairie MLA, Tracy Allard posted a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon explaining why she decided to sign the letter.

Loewen posted the letter on his Facebook page as well and gave his reasoning.
