Grande Prairie’s downtown rehabilitation project moves to next phase Wednesday
The City of Grande Prairie’s Downtown Rehabilitation Project is moving on as scheduled, and the intersection of 100 Avenue and 100 Street is now open to traffic heading north, south and west.
The new underground pipes have been fully installed at the intersection, which is temporarily paved with asphalt. Crews will return to install the permanent roadways along the entire construction zone later this summer.
With the work on that intersection complete, crews are moving east, and starting Wednesday, May 12, the intersection of 100 Avenue and 99 Street will be closed to traffic as both above and underground work in done.
The next step of the work will also see 100 Avenue closed to through traffic between 99 Street and 98 Street. There will be a section of road left open for those seeking access to the downtown Co-op parking lot.
