Pre-registration no longer required for International Street Performers Festival

Jul 22, 2021 | 5:44 PM

This weekend’s Grande Prairie International Street Performer’s Festival will no longer require attendees to pre-register for a spot to take in the performances at the Helen A. Rice Plaza outside of Revolution Place.

Organizers say this is because COVID-19 cases remain low, and that other large events have been able to go ahead with little issues.

“We are so excited to make this change back to our longstanding family focused festival open to all subject only to the limited space on the Plaza,” said Co-Chair of the festival Wayne Ayling.

“The performers are looking forward to being able to fully interact with the audience and accept their free will donations at the end of each performance”

Prior plans had attendees pre-register with a $20 donation, which would have been given to the performers. Plans now have it for attendees to give free will donations to the performers at the end of each performance.

Organizers add that only 150 people can fit onto the plaza, so they do encourage attendees to arrive with their own lawn chairs early to claim a spot.

Anyone who had pre-registered will still have their reserved spot honoured.

The Street Performers Festival goes from July 23-25. The schedule can be found below:
