Wildfire danger rated high in Grande Prairie Forest Area
The wildfire danger for the Grande Prairie Forest Area (GPFA) is rated high as of August 5.
Alberta Wildfire says this is due to the warm and windy weather conditions as well as the high probability of lighting that is expected to pass through the area over the next 24 hours.
There is also a fire advisory in place for the GPFA. Under this fire advisory, current fire permits will remain valid, although new fire permits are issued on a case by case basis only. Alberta Wildfire says any burning, other than a campfire, without a fire permit, is prohibited.
In a release, Alberta Wildfire is urging residents to use extreme caution when burning and to soak, stir, and soak your campfire again before you leave it unattended.
