PRSD back to school plan

Peace River Public School Division reveals back-to-school plan

Aug 20, 2021 | 3:58 PM

The Peace River School Division (PRSD) has unveiled their back to school plan.

The new plan released by the PRSD says that its schools and facilities will continue to provide hand sanitizer, have masks available for students and maintain enhanced cleaning measures.

While the PRSD will continue to keep safety measures in place, the division says they will no longer be requiring staff and students to wear masks, participate in cohorts, or physically distance inside their facilities for the 2021-22 school year.

The PRSD does add should there be a respiratory illness outbreak at a school, some of the masking, distancing and cohort measures could be put back in place for a short duration of time.

School principals have been granted authority to cohort and physically distance students at various times throughout the year as they feel necessary and practical in their local context.

Principals will also ensure support for those staff and students who wish to wear masks for their protection during the school day.

All parents will still be required to screen their child for symptoms each day prior to their child attending school by using the Alberta Health Daily Checklist. Staff, parents and visitors will also be screened for symptoms before attending any PRSD facility.
