Chamber of Commerce encouraging local businesses to take part in advocacy survey

Aug 26, 2021 | 5:59 AM

Business owners throughout the City and County of Grande Prairie and MD fo Greenview are being asked to fill out the Grande Prairie Chamber of Commerce advocacy survey.

The information from the survey helps the chamber for their advocacy discussions with elected officials at the local, provincial and federal levels.

Chamber Chair Larry Gibson says with this being an election year and Grande Prairie coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, they want to hear from businesses about the issues they’re facing.

“With this being an election year, it’s very imperative that we hear from businesses on what their concerns are and what’s getting in their way from maybe being more successful than they already are,” he said.

“Getting it out there and getting the feedback is so critical right now, so we can take that forward at the chamber and advocate where needed, for businesses in our area.”

Gibson says he expects to hear about a wide range of issues businesses face, including taxes and crime.

“It can vary depending on the year and it varies on the economic conditions of the country and province. Typically, you’ll get the responses back about the municipal taxes, signs of services, crime,” explained Gibson.

“That’s why it’s so critical to get as many people responding as possible so we can really understand what is on top of mind with our business community in the area.”

Business owners interested in filling out the survey can do so here. The deadline to complete the survey is Friday, August 27.
