County of Grande Prairie council officially sworn into office

The nine individuals who were elected by the public to represent their divisions in the County of Grande Prairie council chamber have all successfully taken the oath and have been sworn into office.

The oath was taken at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 25 at the first County of Grande Prairie council meeting since the October 18 municipal election.

The following have been elected by the county to represent their areas for the next term:

  • Division 1 – Amanda Frayn (acclaimed, new)
  • Division 2 – Kurt Balderston (newly elected)
  • Division 3 – Leanne Beaupre (incumbent)
  • Division 4 – Steve Zimmerman (newly elected)
  • Division 5 – Bob Marshall (incumbent)
  • Division 6 – Peter Harris (incumbent)
  • Division 7 – Brian Peterson (acclaimed new)
  • Division 8 – Karen Rosvold (incumbent)
  • Division 9 – Bob Chrenek (newly elected)

Division 3 councillor Leanne Beaupre was acclaimed by council to serve as the Reeve for the County of Grande Prairie. Beaupre has served as the Reeve for the county since 2012, and is heading into her 18th year as a councillor.

Division 6 councillor Peter Harris was also acclaimed to remain as Deputy Reeve for the County of Grande Prairie.

Both Beaupre and Harris will serve in their roles from October 25, 2021, until October 31, 2022.

Beaupre and Harris were the only members of council nominated to serve as the Reeve and Deputy Reeve. Nobody voted against either of them serving in the positions.

The county posted a video on its social media feeds of the official oath ceremony.
