Whitecourt resident claims $250K lotto win

A resident of Whitecourt is a quarter-million dollars richer after claiming a lottery win earlier this month.

Bryan Retzollf thought he won $2,500 on his DAILY GRAND ticket, but then soon realized he had actually won $250,000 on the November 8 draw.

“I checked the ticket on the self-scanner in the store,” he said. “I thought it was a $2,500 winner at first, which was great. Then saw I had won $250,000… I started shaking. I didn’t believe it!”

Retzollf said he had to scan the winning ticket a few times, even giving it to the cashier to check, before reality set it.

Now that he is $250,000 richer, Retzollf has two main plans for his windfall.

“I’m going to pay all of my bills,” he said. “After that, and when it’s safe to travel again, I’m going to do some travelling. My wife and I have always wanted to take a cruise around Europe and go to Hawaii.”

Retzloff purchased the winning DAILY GRAND ticket at the Medi-Save Rexall in the Valley Centre Mall in Whitecourt.

He won his prize by matching all five of the main draw numbers on the November 8 DAILY GRAND draw.
